Our club exists and functions entirely due to our volunteers. Every contribution, whether it’s donning the marshals high vis and coming up with 3545 different ways to say “well done” to every passing runner, or coming up with new ideas for events – it’s all hugely important. If you’ve enjoyed doing something like that.. why not step up and join the committee! Different roles have different levels of responsibility, from car park marshaling to chairing the club. We support each role by having appropriate policies and procedures in place.
Events volunteering
Events volunteers are always needed – please contact the Events Representative or the organiser of a specific event for details.
Committee vacancies
Our committee members volunteer a lot of their time and would be hugely grateful for any additional support. In particular, we still have a couple of roles unfilled, so if any of these take your fancy, please do get in touch. Drop our Chair or any other member of the committee (or all of us!) a line if you’d like to discuss or find out more for further information about the role or to apply for the role.
Role descriptions and the Volunteering Handbook are available on the Club Policies page.
The following roles are currently vacant:
Webmaster: Our webmaster maintains the essential club information systems and works alongside the Assistant Webmasters. The role ensures that the club website remains operational alongside the results database and the membership database. We already have a team of IT-minded Windmilers who help out, so you wouldn’t be alone, and we need one person overall who can coordinate the team and be available for occasional troubleshooting if something breaks.
The Volunteering Handbook covers the following
- Club contact name responsible for the role
- Role description, including duration
- Expectations of club volunteers
- Wimbledon Windmilers club history and ethos
- Club code of conduct
- Club policies and procedures
- Confidentiality and data protection
- Expense claim procedure
- Insurance cover
- Training, if required
- References, if required
- DBS check and safeguarding certificate, if required
- Informal mentoring support is available from past role holders
- Handover notes may be available from past role holders
